What Ultra Shelf Is

Ultra Shelf is Snake River Hardwoods’ floating shelf company. It’s built on the same hardwood supply chain and the same Rigby, Idaho manufacturing floor as the rest of Snake River Hardwoods, cut down to a single job: a shelf, mantel, or bench that mounts flush to the wall with no visible bracket, no visible fastener, and no sag once it’s loaded.

Every piece starts as board-foot hardwood milled in house, not a pre-fab blank bought from a third party. That’s the same processor-to-finished-product chain covered on the Custom Hardwoods & T3D page.

Ultra Shelf offers five hardwood species plus a painted line and an outdoor line:

Pricing depends on species, length, depth, and finish. The overall range across the shelf and mantel lineup runs $139 to $649. For exact sizes, current stock, and to place an order, see the live catalog at ultrashelf.com.

How the shelves are built

Shelf construction depends on thickness, not on species. 1.25 inch and 1.75 inch shelves are solid hardwood all the way through. Every other thickness is hardwood veneer over an engineered core. Both are real wood on every visible surface. The difference is what’s underneath a shelf too thin to run solid without a weight or warping penalty.

Floating Mantels

Mantels are priced separately from shelves and run heavier, since a mantel spans a firebox opening and typically carries more visual and physical load:

$649
lengths 48 to 84 in, 5 or 7 in thick

Unlike the thinner shelves, mantels are solid species on every face, not veneer over a core, on any thickness Ultra Shelf offers.

Floating Benches

Floating benches are part of Snake River Hardwoods’ full product scope, built on the same Studlock hardware platform as the shelves and mantels above. A dedicated floating bench product isn’t live in Ultra Shelf’s current catalog yet. Rather than guess at a size or price, we’re marking this one honestly: coming soon. Check ultrashelf.com directly for the current lineup, or contact Snake River Hardwoods for where this stands.

The Artisan Line: Textured Solid Hardwood Shelves

Artisan is Ultra Shelf’s textured line, built on the same texture-engineering technology behind T3D siding and veneer. It comes in two species, White Oak and Alder, in four texture finishes: Antique, Driftwood, Milled, and Weathered.

Artisan White Oak
from $203
Artisan Alder
from $183

Specs: 1.75 inches thick, 12 to 90 inches long, 6 to 14 inches deep. It’s solid hardwood, not veneer, and the texture is the finish itself. Nothing is coated over it after the fact. Textured solid hardwood at this scale is genuinely hard to produce, and most shelf makers don’t offer it at all. That’s the same reason Snake River Hardwoods runs its own texturing equipment in Rigby rather than buying finished blanks from someone else.

The Studlock Bracket System

Every Ultra Shelf shelf and mantel hangs on the Studlock Bracket System, a patented hardware set (U.S. Patent No. 12268303) engineered for a flush, no-visible-fastener mount. A floating bench is planned on the same Studlock platform; it is not a shipping product yet.

How it installs: About 15 minutes per shelf. The bracket is pre-drilled every inch along its length, so it lands on a stud wherever the stud actually falls behind the wall, instead of forcing the installer to hunt for stud spacing and mark a shelf to match.

What it holds: 50 lb rated per stud. Catch two studs and that’s 100 lb. Catch three and it’s 150 lb.

Why it stays flush: The bracket disappears entirely into the back of the shelf, so the finished look is wood on the wall and nothing else: no visible arm, no bracket underneath.

The Mantel Bracket ships bundled with the mantel itself, no separate published price.

This is the same hardware engineering approach that shows up across Snake River Hardwoods' hidden-door and Murphy Bed hardware on the Murphy Door® Family page: hide the mechanism, carry real load, make the install fast for whoever’s on the ladder. See the bracket system’s own product pages at ultrashelf.com.

Ultra Shelf Trade Program

Ultra Shelf runs its own trade program, separate from Snake River Hardwoods’ trade pricing described on the Trade & Nationwide page. Don’t confuse the two: this is Ultra Shelf’s program for its own shelf and mantel catalog specifically.

How it works:

  • Apply online
  • Approved in 2 to 3 business days
  • A trade discount on Ultra Shelf orders
  • A personal Trade Concierge
  • Free shipping across the lower 48

Apply directly at ultrashelf.com.

Note: Snake River Hardwoods’ own trade pricing is a separate arrangement, paid at time of order or quote. Neither program offers credit accounts, PO terms, or invoice terms. See the Trade & Nationwide page for how Snake River Hardwoods’ own trade pricing works.

Built, Not Assembled

Handmade in the USA Heavy-Duty Weight Rating Solid Hardwood Heirloom Quality

Every Ultra Shelf piece is handmade in the USA, carries a heavy-duty weight rating backed by the Studlock system above, and is solid hardwood or hardwood veneer over a core, never particleboard or laminate. It’s built to be an heirloom piece, not a fixture that gets replaced with the next remodel.
